A privately owned quilt shop

Sue’s Quilt Creations is about making everyone feel welcome in the quilting world; from the novice who doesn’t think he/she could ever quilt to the veteran who makes several quilts a year. Everyone is welcome; there are no cliques, there are no silly questions. It’s about sharing the joy of quilting and helping each other grow as quilters. Sue’s Quilt Creations is a welcoming shop where all levels of sewists are welcome; and I want everyone to find the enjoyment and satisfaction that quilting brings me.

The shop is opening with over 1,000 bolts of fabric, a full line of Mettler thread, patterns, books and various notions to complete your projects. A class schedule will begin in the Fall of 2022. A loyalty program is available for those who are regular shoppers.

Sue Shipman

Owner/Operator

Hello, my name is Sue Shipman. I am a local Bradford County Pennsylvania girl and was in the world of education for over 30 years, and opening Sue’s Quilt Creations is a dream I have had for several years. I was very fortunate to grow up with great sewing/quilting role models, and I am very fortunate to have a husband who supports my dreams and my quilting passion.

My sewing journey began as a child watching my mom make clothes for me and then make a matching outfit for my dolls. At eight years old I joined 4-H and had the best leaders possible. My sewing for 4-H went from a poncho (yes, I’m that old) to a plaid wool skirt, to a prom dress with way too many yards of satin.

My first quilting piece was an Ohio Star block turned into a pillow for a 4-H project. I have since made numerous quilts -from baby quilts, to wall hangings, to t shirt quilts, to king sized compass star quilts. Currently I spend my time making custom order quilts, longarm quilting tops that others have pieced, and making samples for the shop.

My first sewing machine was a second-hand Kenmore that did the basics. Over the years I have added a serger, a domestic machine with an embroidery module, as well as a longarm machine. Any machine that will do a straight stitch will get you started on the quilting journey. I hope you will visit Sue’s Quilt Creations and join the fun.
